Gundam Wing is a 49 episode anime series directed by Masashi Ikeda and written by Katsuyuki Sumizawa. It takes place in an alternate universe to the original Mobile Suit Gundam of 1979 in the year After Colony 195.

In the future some humans have migrated off the Earth and onto man made space colonies. These colonies have grown tired of the United Earth Sphere Alliance's dictatorial government, specifically a faction of the Alliance called OZ. OZ stands for Organization of Zodiac and is run by powerful aristocrats that believe the colonies rightfully belong to them. Resistance groups from the colonies have built five incredibly powerful Mobile Suites called Gundams, each with differing battle capabilities. They are robot like vehicles built to travel to Earth and begin a guerrilla campaign that will end the Alliances's rule forever. Each Gundam has a dangerously talented young pilot responsible for the lives of thousands of people as they fight for freedom and liberation.
